Scott Atkins, B.A. CSCS, TSCC-GOLD
Director of Sport Conditioning
Scott is the Director and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Twist Sport Conditioning
Centre in Burlington. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilfred Laurier University
and he is a Twist Master Coach, delivering certifications and presenting all over
North America. Scott has an extensive and wide ranging sport background that ranges
from playing in the Ontario Hockey League to being a Strength and Conditioning Coach
to many Elite level athletes. Scott was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the
Kitchener Rangers of the OHL for 4 years. Scott has worked with athletes from a variety
of sports and combined with his Elite Level playing experience and his educational
background he delivers a Strength and Conditioning program that takes athletes to
the next level.

On ice Instructor/Prep Hockey Coach
- Scott Mifsud attended the University of Vermont where he graduated with a Bachelor’s
degree in Physical Education. While attending university, Scott was a member of the
Varsity hockey team where he played 4 seasons. In his senior year, Scott led the
league (ECAC) in scoring. Scott followed his passion for hockey and continued his
playing career after graduating. He played a few years of pro hockey in the ECHL
where he was second leading scorer in the league in only his second year. Scott continued
his career overseas playing in Switzerland, Germany, & Italy. Scott has been a Twist
athlete since 2007 participating in our High Performance Hockey Camp over the off-seasons.
Scott knows the hard work and dedication it takes to train. Making the Transition
from athlete to coach came very natural for Scott as he exudes all the qualities
that make for a great coach.
Prep Head Coach, On-Ice Instructor
C.J. Morrison attended Acadia University in Wolfville Nova Scotia where he graduated
with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. He then furthered his academic
career by attending Brock University in St. Catharines Ontario where he graduated
with a Master’s degree in Applied Health Science with a focus in Sport Management.
C.J.’s Master’s thesis focused on Nonprofit Sport Capacity where he attempted to
develop a tool that measures four types of capacity proposed in a framework. C.J.
values the principles of academia and stresses the importance of young athletes using
their athletic talent as a tool to get a college or university degree.
C.J. was a 4th round pick, 76th overall, by the Guelph Storm in the 2000 OHL draft.
He played with the Burlington Cougars Junior A Hockey club for two years. During
his stay with the Burlington Cougars, he was honoured by the team as the Burlington
Cougars Rookie of the Year. In his last year with the Cougars he was pleased to get
accepted to Acadia University in his desired field of study. While attending Acadia,
C.J. played with the Windsor Royals Junior B Hockey club where he played his remaining
three years of junior eligibility.
In C.J.’s last year of university at Acadia he was appointed the Head Coaching position
of Acadia University’s women’s Hockey club. He then furthered his coaching career
by being the associate coach with the Villanova Knights Junior A Hockey club. C.J.
is currently the associate coach with the Burlington Cougars and plans on staying
in this role while coaching Blyth Academy’s Prep Hockey team

Peter brings many years of coaching and training to our Athletic team.
A former OHL (Hamilton Steel Hawks and Sudbury Wolves) and AHL (Rochester Americans
and Adirondack Redwings) Goaltender with a Calder Cup championship. 25 years as owner
operator of the longest operating goalie school in North America, Kenesky “the original
goalie company”. He is Head Coach of the Jr A Cougars Hockey team in Burlington
Ontario. Peter offers an endless wealth of knowledge and perspective to student athletes
and staff alike.
Peter’s knowledge and experiences in Professional hockey and connections to multiple
levels of the hockey community provides students with informed information and networking
opportunities in the hockey world.
Drafted first round to Sault Greyhounds in the OHL in 1990. Led the OHL as a rookie
in scoring, led the OHL in Playoff scoring.
Went to 3 consecutive Memorial Cups - 1 of 3 teams in OHL history to accomplish that.
Won a Memorial cup in 1993.
Drafted Hartford Whalers NHL 1992.
15 years Pro in AHL and Europe.
Excellent technical skating instructor and a high tempo creative stick handling coach.
Current Director of High Performance Power Skating.
Ian is a UEFA “A” licensed certified coach- which is Europe’s top coaching qualification.
He also holds US and Canadian B license qualifications and is a former provincial
team coach for Ontario. He has extensive coaching contacts throughout North America
and Europe and has worked 3 years, in partnership, with English professional club
Crewe Alexandra FC. Crewe Alexandra have traditionally been recognized as one of
the premier youth development clubs in England. More recently, Ian served as a Toronto
FC Academy staff coach.

- In 2002 Borjas helped guide Brock to its first OUA Championships and was named OUA
MVP in the process. Eight single season conference records were set with a 561 batting
average, 26 runs, 32 hits, six homeruns, 21 RBI, 59 total bases, a 1.035 slugging
percentage, and a .611 on-base percentage. Finish the year with an overall .480 average,
putting his career average at .419 a Brock best. Borjas was also nominated for Brock
Male Athlete of the Year in 2002 -2003 season.

Goaltending Coach - David Shantz
David joins Blyth Academy as their goaltending coach following his first year of
coaching after his five year professional career which included time in the NHL,
AHL, and ECHL. He finished his playing career in 2010-2011 as a member of the Victoria
Salmon Kings and Manitoba Moose. Prior to this, David played three years in the OHL
with the Mississauga IceDogs and Peterborough Petes where he was named to the OHL
All-Star Game, OHL all rookie team, CHL all rookie team, Canada-Russia Challenge,
and concluded his time with an OHL Championship in 2006. The 2nd round draft pick
of the Florida Panthers spent three years under contract with the Panthers spending
a majority of his time between the Rochester Americans (AHL) and Florida Everblades
(ECHL) affiliates with the opportunity to backup a few regular season games in the
NHL. Following this contract, David was signed by the Calgary Flames and played with
their respective farm teams the Abbotsford Heat (AHL) and the Victoria Salmon Kings
(ECHL) in 2009-2010. Since stepping away from playing, he was appointed the head
instructor position at the Jon Elkin Goaltending School where he worked with, and
helped develop current OHL goaltenders and OHL prospects as well as Division 1 and
3 netminders. David currently resides in Hamilton. And is a exciting addition to
our team..
